Patrick Jones at Eklectica
Patrick Jones is an artist of international repute; he is now working from a studio in Lympstone, East Devon. Known for his bold improvisation with colour, his paintings are striking in their bold use of acrylic paints across large canvases. They owe something to the work of the late Jackson Pollack, the American artist famed for his apparently random splashes of paint.
Patrick had critical success in the Eighties with exhibitions at the Hayward Gallery in London Hayward, Serpentine and I.C.A. galleries and represented the U.K. at the Carnegie International in the U.S. He has taught extensively in England and America, notably at Wimbledon and Hunter College in New York. His last exhibitions included Brook Gallery in Budleigh Salterton, Poussin Gallery London, Delfina Gallery London, among others.
His creative process had much in common with Kandinsky, who is credited with being a founding father of abstract art.
"Kandinsky and I have a common language in the way we relate to art. It is closer to the way we appreciate music. He reckoned that if he saw a colour he would hear a sound. I don’t actually share that, but I do use music to paint." Says Patrick.
This Exhibition will show his latest work, and a collection of prints.
